Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve recently revealed the "single best thing" about Caitlin Clark's game, praising the rookie's incredible pace and passing abilities.
Clark, who is considered one of the leading candidates for WNBA Rookie of the Year, has been turning heads with her performance on the court.
In a recent game against the Indiana Fever, Clark led her team with 23 points and eight assists, despite the Fever's 90-80 loss to the Lynx.
Although Kelsey Mitchell added 21 points and Aliyah Boston contributed 10 points and 15 rebounds for the Fever, it was Napheesa Collier's 31 points and Kayla McBride's 19 points that secured the victory for the Lynx.
Coach Reeve, who also led Team USA to a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, has been closely monitoring Clark's progress.
Despite initial criticism of the rookie, Reeve acknowledged Clark's exceptional pace and passing skills, emphasizing their value in her game.
"We haven’t seen them a lot," Reeve commented, referring to the Fever. "I’ll tell you that. But what I have seen coming into the season and watching her in college, I said, ‘The single best thing that she does that young players don’t do is she plays with incredible pace.’ And pace can get you really far, and there’s great value in that.
Pace and passing are her two greatest things. I know the sexier part is probably the logo three but the pace and the passing is what makes her exceptional in my mind."
Reeve's praise comes after she had been critical of questions surrounding Clark's omission from the Team USA roster. Despite the attention surrounding the rookie superstar, Reeve expressed indifference to its impact on attendance at the Target Center, emphasizing the importance of Clark's skills on the court.
The Lynx also retired Maya Moore’s jersey on the same night, prompting Reeve to joke about wishing she had both Clark and Moore on her team.
Clark's performance has solidified her as a standout rookie in the WNBA, and her contributions to the Indiana Fever have not gone unnoticed. As the season progresses, all eyes will continue to be on Caitlin Clark as she looks to make her mark in the league.
