Title: WWE Backstage Update on Jade Cargill's Status for the Women's Elimination Chamber Match and Unexpected Release of Reliable Employee
In less than two weeks, WWE Elimination Chamber will take place in Perth, Australia, featuring two of the titular gimmick matches and plenty of additional action on the card.
Three of the spots for the Women's Elimination Chamber Match have already been filled, with two more to be determined on Friday's "SmackDown," and the company has announced a Women's Battle Royale for "Raw" next week to fill the final spot.
According to Dave Meltzer on the "Wrestling Observer Radio," the company had planned for Jade Cargill to fill the final spot in the Women's Elimination Chamber.
However, Meltzer was unsure if the announced "Last Chance Battle Royale" indicated a change in plans, suggesting that Cargill might not be used after all. If this turns out to be the case, Meltzer noted that it would be a clear sign that WWE had "cold feet" about using Cargill.
It has been reported that Cargill has had difficulty remembering match sequences but has been working to improve her in-ring skills during training.
Meanwhile, PWInsider Elite has confirmed that Jade Cargill is "no longer" slated for the Women's Elimination Chamber Match in Perth.
PWInsider also heard that there could be changes to the original plan, which involved Cargill winning the Battle Royal and securing the final spot, but as always in wrestling, nothing is certain.
Cargill made her official WWE debut at the Women's Royal Rumble 2024, entering as number 28 and making it to the final, where she eliminated Nia Jax and a returning Naomi.
She originally signed with WWE in September 2023 after ending her time with AEW earlier that month. In the weeks following her signing, she made several appearances on "Raw," "SmackDown," and "NXT" but did not compete in the ring until the end of the year.
This week, WWE will tape another episode after the current edition of SmackDown, as the performers booked for the show in Perth will travel to Australia after the Raw show on February 19 alongside the stars of the red brand.
The winner of the Women's Elimination Chamber Match 2024 will face Rhea Ripley for the Women's World Championship at WWE WrestleMania XL. The announced participants for the match so far include Becky Lynch, Liv Morgan, and Bianca Belair.
In other news, a new report confirms that there has been a recent release from WWE, described as "somewhat of a shock" within the company.
According to PWInsider, Matt Camp is no longer with WWE. Camp has been a co-host of WWE's The Bump in recent years, as well as the NXT Premium Live Event Pre-Shows, Raw Talk, and other shows. He also had some appearances as a commentator on NXT Level Up. He started with WWE in September 2019.
There was "no real explanation" for the reason for his release, and the news was "somewhat of a shock to a number of people within the company," according to PWInsider.
Reports indicate that he was considered a "reliable, unassuming worker" at WWE who had a deep knowledge of the product and its history.
Camp has not yet commented on his release, and reportedly WWE has not issued an internal statement regarding it either.
